These paintings explore the persistence of the figure within fields of unstable painterly marks. Working from pre-existing imagery, I am drawn to moments where people appear adrift, vulnerable or emotionally unsettled. Through layering, revision and partial erasure, figures emerge, fragment and dissolve, occupying spaces that remain deliberately uncertain.
